What Type of LinkedIn Expert Do You Need?

Different areas of expertise will be needed for different businesses. The main question that needs to be answered is – Who do you want to work on your LinkedIn profile and how can it improve your revenue? If the answer is a sales expert, then they’ll need to have a great profile with a long history of sales roles. On the other hand, if you are looking for someone to improve the overall look, feel, and performance of your LinkedIn page, then make sure you hire an expert who knows all about marketing a business online from start to finish.

You may also find yourself looking to build an online community on LinkedIn which involves knowing more about the LinkedIn ecosystem and algorithm. These are the most common types of LinkedIn experts but who often pretend to be sales or marketing experts. This is a really important distinction and actually harder than you’d think to spot most of the time. Here is why.

LinkedIn experts who understand the algorithms of the platform are usually good at one thing above all else which is getting views, likes, and comments on their content. This usually makes them appear to have a lot of social proof as their posts appear very popular and they make many claims about improving your business and sales while most actually lack any actual business building or sales experience outside of LinkedIn content.

How Can a LinkedIn Ads Expert Improve Your Business?

The first thing to know is that anyone can build a LinkedIn account and connect with people whether it’s for business or pleasure. The real issue is getting the most out of the site for leads, sales, client introductions, and long-term development of your company’s image.

When you are looking for a LinkedIn expert to help increase your revenue, there are several things that they should be doing on a regular basis including:

  • Reaching out to current clients and prospects through messages, status updates, and invitations.
  • Engaging in conversations with people both inside and outside your circle of influence.
  • Using industry-specific keywords to find target prospects who may not know about your company yet and building relationships with those prospects.

Other ways that a LinkedIn expert can help improve your business include research into potential competitors and assistance with writing content for your LinkedIn posts.

Sales Navigator is the secret weapon of most prospectors. Sales Navigator is a LinkedIn upgrade that offers the ability to search for decision-makers by 30+ filters including position title, geography, industry, company size, and many more.

When Should You Hire a LinkedIn Marketing Expert?

Good question. In order to get the most out of a LinkedIn expert’s knowledge and skills, they should be brought in when you’re planning on building a new business profile from scratch, rebranding, creating a campaign based on lead generation, or deep diving into exactly who your target audience is and the best ways to reach them.

It would also be an excellent time to dive into LinkedIn as a long-term lead generation strategy if you already have a sales team and are leveraging a CRM currently. This ensures that you have the tools needed to track and store the data and a team and process to follow up on leads.

How Much Should You Expect to Pay?

A decent LinkedIn expert can cost anywhere from $1k-$5k per month depending on what you want to be done. If you just need a weekly status update and a few messages, then the amount may be lower.

As with anything, there are many variables to this equation that will need to be considered.

  • Are you looking to just gain more visibility with your target demographic?
  • Are you ok with a slow and steady pace or willing to pay more to speed things up with a greater weekly time investment?
  • Are you looking to leverage direct messages, content, paid ads, data scraping…or all the above?
  • Are you looking to support just yourself as a small startup or looking to create a system that scales and rolls out to multiple members of your sales team?

It’s not uncommon to pay $100-$250/hr for a decent expert to consult or complete some manual build-outs for you and reasonable to pay $1,000-$5,000/month for a system of lead generation that is built and executed for you.
