4 LinkedIn Lead Generation Strategies to Market Your Business

LinkedIn Lead Generation Strategies

LinkedIn lead generation is one of the biggest benefits of the world’s largest professional social network. From ads to content to messaging – when done properly, can yield real and immediate effects in the form of inbound messages from prospective clients or even prospective business partners and employees.

4 LinkedIn Lead Generation Strategies

Here are the top 4 LinkedIn lead gen strategies that you can start using today to market and grow your business.

1. LinkedIn Paid Ads

LinkedIn paid ads are probably the most effective when it comes to lead generation. LinkedIn paid ads can create a scalable and predictable flow of leads once a strong foundation is built.

The benefits of lead generation using LinkedIn ads are vast but here are some of the highlights.

  • Linkedin targeting capability. This is one of the main reasons why business love to advertise on Linkedin. You can target by position title, industry, company size, and many more filters.
  • You can also target any location you’d like, allowing you to prioritize leads within a certain geographical region or exclude regions.
  • It’s true that costs per clicks and costs per lead tend to be higher on Linkedin but the beauty is that the quality of the traffic is just better. There is no other platform where you can market to decision-makers while they are in work mode and on the platform they actually come to be influenced on buying decisions.

They cost money to set up and manage, but if you work with a LinkedIn expert and lay a solid foundation, you can expect to see positive ROI within 90 days typically.

2. Lead Magnets

If you want to boost your clickthrough rates on your LinkedIn paid ads, consider using a lead magnet in the form of a free download to entice your target audience to click on your ad. Lead magnets have been used to generate some businesses thousands of leads per month depending on budget.

Here are some lead magnets you may consider using:

  • Ebook
  • Webinar series
  • Whitepaper
  • Questionnaire or Survey

Now, just because these lead magnets are free doesn’t mean that they’re not worth anything. In fact, the quality of your lead magnet determines the quality of your lead. It’s important to choose lead magnets that are going to provide value for your target audience.

Ebooks and whitepapers tend to be the most effective lead magnets. But it’s important to market them well with an engaging CTA (Call-To-Action). When writing your CTA, it’s best to avoid an overly salesy tone of voice like “Download my FREE ebook!” – it will only turn away potential leads and send them scurrying over to your competitor’s website. CTAs in the form of questions like “looking for information on…?” tend to be more inviting and already require a call to answer by the nature of you asking a question.

If you use lead magnets that offer value to your target audience – you will see results.

3. Regular Content Posting

LinkedIn lead generation through the regular content posting is another very effective way to generate leads using LinkedIn. It may take longer than ads, but it’s also a lot cheaper. Like, free if you are doing it yourself or working it into a team member’s schedule.

The key to generating Linkedin leads through your content is to write something that your target audience actually wants to read. You want to hook them with an eye-catching opening line, and then provide useful information throughout your post. Using emojis can help your efforts. And make sure you respond to any and all comments as you never know who might be messaging you next to request info on your products or services.

The general idea is to provide educational content and insights that position you and your company as the go-to experts in your space.

4. LinkedIn Messaging

Many marketers are already familiar with LinkedIn messaging and its lead generation benefits. It might be perfect for you as well. It’s another free tool to use so it can’t hurt to try, especially if you’re on a budget or don’t want to invest in paid ads yet.

Your lead generation efforts through LinkedIn messaging will work best if you have a following since a large following adds credibility to your profile. If you don’t already have a large following, start building up your connections by engaging in conversations with people who are in your target audience. Just make sure your messaging is personalized and not canned.

I’d also recommend making the messages conversational and short. Don’t just go for the jugular and hit them with a 5-page sales pitch. Instead, simply introduce yourself to new connections and position yourself as an expert resource should they have a need.
